Qualifications

Two years previous Operating Room, Pre-Op or Post-op experience
Previous ASC experience

Essential Functions

Greet patients
Verify information on patient medical records
Assist Professional Nursing staff in a variety of tasks but not limited to:
Taking medical histories and recording vital signs
Explaining treatment procedures to patients
Preparing patients for surgery/procedures
Assisting the physician during the examination and procedures
Dispose of contaminated supplies
Promote patient/family understanding of the educational content and his/her involvement in the plan of care, and document record
Perform other clinical functions as delegated and supervised by the Professional Nurse
Inspects equipment for proper working condition
Follows principles of aseptic technique
Adheres to aseptic technique when opening sterile packages
Reports observed or suspected breaks in sterile technique and takes appropriate action according to policy
Correctly utilizes, cares for cleans instruments, supplies and equipment as directed
Handles equipment and instruments correctly to provide appropriate availability and safety
Assists in work area by cleaning area
Assists in storing and stocking of supplies as directed and analyzes work area and make recommendations for potential cost-effective improvements
Responds in a timely manner to meet the needs of the patient and physician
Document patient care records and other forms according to facility policies and procedures
Accurately advises others responsible for care of the patient about the patient's status
Assist in the discharge of patients following evaluation by Professional Nurses
